in 2005 i became a mentor for some of the national film board's new community storytelling initiatives. i learned about digital storytelling - short form filmmaking using recorded voice and still photographs.
i began to work within communities helping folks tell their personal stories.

as well as The Center for Digital Storytelling out of Berkley CA USA


we worked with the director Nettie Wild helping students tell their stories

I got to work with Danel on a story about his hamster!

we learned to listen to how the students wanted to tell their story

it was so fun to help these young people have a voice


we were welcomed back to this small community in Surrey BC!

this time I got to help Iaric tell a story about his cat!

a celebration screening was again held in the gym

we worked with seniors in 2 different community centres in Vancouver

I also helped Ron tell his story of immigration

Partnering with YouthCO in Vancouver and Edmonton filmmaker Terri Wynnyk to help at-risk youth tell their stories

Lulu was a hard worker and generous storyteller

Lulu has since passed away, I feel lucky to have spent time with her
