community story collection project
With the theme 'history of place' I worked with artist, Lisa Walker collecting personal and community stories in the Riley Park neighbourhood.
The stories were shared in text, photographs and videos.
Lisa and I had fun figuring out ways to meet the community. our strategies were based on chance meetings as well as reaching out specifically to groups, individuals and businesses. we made flyers and visited business as well as went to the Percy Norman Pool, senior gatherings, youth programs and just spent time at the Riley Park Community Center. It was fun to work together and we have remained friends. Lisa has since become a mentor for the Our World Language project!
