Iris Film Collective was born out of a performance night called: Sound + Vision: An Experimental Collaboration as part of Art Waste in 2013. Many of the participating artists enjoyed collaborating using film and experimentation and wanted to keep this momentum going! A big part of being a member of IRIS for me is this collective inspiration and collaboration to make work. Over the years we have had many collaborative projects sometimes working together learning new techniques with analog film, sharing works in progress and writing grants together in order to create new work. I also have enjoyed curating screenings and conducting community workshop opportunities. it is an opportunity to be a little more experimental in my storytelling and allowing the medium of film to dictate an aesthetic.
IRIS was situated at Falaise Park as part of the Fieldhouse Program in Vancouver BC - we had many screenings, performances, artist talks, residencies and workshops!
